It is always a wonder to experience a living coral reef up close. One is amazed at the magnitude of colour and contrast of shape. As such this piece aims to achieve both the contrast and overall harmony within these underwater havens.
I parallel this with Beethoven's beloved Symphonie #9 which is based off the Ode to Joy; a theme based on the idea of harmony and brotherhood of mankind.
There is an equivalent of 117 plastic bags used in this piece. These LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) abstract shapes were cut from a sheet of used melted common plastic. Each shape is stud mounted onto a gold and silver painted backdrop.
